Drink

Today we have the Pimp Juice drink recipe

6 oz Frozen Smirnoff. Green Apple Twist vodka
6 oz 7-Up. cold cherry soda
4 oz Ice Cubes

Note that we've made some changes from the Drinksmixer version.  By freezing the vodka and chilling the 7-Up, you can increase the Vodka to 7-Up ratio (therefore making this a much more Pimpin drink).  We used the Drink Ingredient Calorie Database to look up our ingredients and the Drink Calorie Analyzer and Drink Cost Analyzer to get the Pure Alcohol Content Per Dollar and the Calories per Standard Drink.  Soda - Sprite has 94.6 calories per 8 ounce serving and costs $1.49 per 67.6 ounce bottle in Washington.   The Apple Twist Vodka was not in the database (yet) so I used the calorie information for normal vodka (96 calories per 1.5 ounce serving).  The cost in Washington is $16.50 for a 25.4 ounce (fifth) bottle and the alcohol content is 35% (70 proof).  Plugging this information into the DCA, the Pimp Juice recipe above has 3.5 standard drinks, 130 calories per standard drink, and has an alcohol content by volume of  13.1%.  It'll only take one or two of these to get you loose as a goose and ready to rumble. The cost per standard drink in Washington is $1.15 (0.52 PAC / Dollar Ratio)

Think

We're not advocating driving above 0.02% BAC - we believe the statistics that show fatality rates multiply 11-fold at 0.05% and we don't think its worth the risk.  But we also think that people have a right to know all the ways that a breathalyzer can give a false positive - and we also determined the most likely ways to get a breathalyzer to read lower than actual BAC.  Be sure to read in the "false negatives" column carefully.  It basically shows that to the extent that you can manipulate lung air temperature, you can manipulate breathalyzer readings.

Don't be too quick to put the temperature dependence of the Henry's Law Constant for alcohol predicted by Van't Hoff's Equation to the test.  Changing lung air temperature can affect the physiology of the lungs and probably isn't too good an idea.
