Todays drink is Agent Orange
1 Oz Yukon Jack . Canadian Whiskey
1 Oz Jim Beam . Bourbon Whiskey
1 Oz Pucker . Apple Schnapps
1 Oz Monarch . Vodka
1 Oz Bacardi . Light Rum
1 Oz Triple Sec
= Oz grenadine
2 Oz Fresh Squeezed Orange Juice
Serve with ice and garnish with orange and cherry. Our rationale in using cheap vodka is that no flavor is coming from the vodka and there isnt enough vodka to affect the smoothness of the drink. Use good juice, though, since its a small portion of the overall cost of this drink but can have a big impact on drink taste / quality. This is a 50 proof 8.5 ounce drink. That means its more than 2 ounces of PAC or about 3.5 standard drinks

We chose a whiskey drink and a craft distillery link because our thought today is regarding the USA corn problem. Early Americans took to making whiskey because it stores better than corn. Now corn subsidies practically force people to grow corn, artificially depressing the price and making the many of the nations farmers increasingly reliant on the subsidies. This vicious cycle leads to an ever more dependant welfare state of farmers. We suggest that government needs to take a multi-faceted approach to reduce this dependence. Whiskey is one facet of this approach. If the government could find ways to encourage production of value added corn products (such as whiskey) they would be able to increase job growth and possibly begin to scale back on the corn subsidies. Another facet, which has nothing to do with alcohol, would be to alternate soy with corn. Soy is a decent bio-fuel feedstock, and bio-refineries are currently hurting for affordable feed-stocks.
